DESCRIPTION
Cook fluffy, glistening rice in this earthen pot. In addition to cooking plain rice, this pot is great for making rice with various ingredients, known in Japan as "takikomi gohan". Recipes for takikomi gohan usually begin with a light dashi broth used as the cooking liquid in place of water and can include scant amounts of soy sauce, mirin and sake for additional flavoring. Vegetable and meat ingredients are then added. Some of the more popular takikomi dishes include matsutake gohan (matsutake mushroom rice), tai meshi (rice with sea bream fish) and gomoku gohan (rice with a combination of five ingredients). The pot has two lids. The inner lid creates extra pressure and steam and helps to prevent messy spill-over while the rice is cooking. The top lid is decorated with a cobalt blue radiating spoke design.

I had to make a few test runs before I perfected how to use this, but it makes perfect rice every time now that I figured it out. 1 1/4 cup rice rinsed. this comes to first line. then put in water to second line. put on medium heat and bring to boil, then bring to lowest heat and set timer for 15 min. turn off and leave covered for another 10 min, but you can also eat it sooner. but the water continues to absorb so waiting is better
