I like her books. Very good recipes. This cookbook is written by a cookbook author, not someone who actually does Paleo. The title itself should be enough to tip you off, Paleo is much more than just gluten free, it's grain free, dairy free, legume free, etc.I gave it three stars because I believe this author just might be trying to make a buck off the new Paleo trend. Saying that, some of the recipes are Paleo and are pretty good. But you have to be careful because she does call for things like dairy and red wine and white wine in her cooking (and other items that are not Paleo). If you are comfortable knowing what is and isn't Paleo and know how to make substitutions (she does give some suggestions in the book) then this book might give you some recipes to work with. I would suggest looking for this book in your public library first and give it a look over before you buy it.The recipes have many, many ingredients but the most disappointing is each recipe requires cooking in a skillet (after all the chopping and measuring) before transferring to crockpot. Isn’t that the reason one uses a crockpot? Just dump ingredients in, set high or low and eat 6 to 8 hours later. Not so with these recipes. There is at least an hour of work before transferring to crockpot which means extra clean up as well.I read the other review, which quibbles about whether this cookbook is Paleo enough. I'll just give you my own view. I'm a very strict paleo eater (gluten, dairy, egg, nightshade-free) and I like this book so well I bought it even though it is in my local library. There a a couple of recipes in this book (e.g. Tuscan Chicken with Sage, Chicken Provencal) we prepare weekly and even the non-Paleo folks eat it up like it was their last meal on earth. This lady knows how to make great food. I've got another pot of Tuscan chicken going and the red wine aroma is filling the house (and driving our dog bonkers). Buy it now!Having recently gone Paleo, and discovered the joys of slow cooking, I got all the Paleo Slow Cooker books out of the library. There were four of them. This was the best, so I ordered it.Too many steps and a lot of ingredients one does not necessarily have on hand.these are tasty
