I think that person that left the 2 star review is either not using it correctly or maybe she got a defective unit but by the sounds of the review it seems like she is not following the directions as for the condensation another reviewer mentioned that and yes it does get a collection of water on lid when you open it but it is not that big of a deal like the other reviewer said open it kind of slow and the water has a second to run down to the edge and the problem is solved. but I feel like I don’t really need another gadget but this thing works so good and is so easy another reviewer tip I followed is just put the rice in the cooker pot and rinse and drain it from there it works simply and beautifully then add your water/broth to the correct liquid line I always put extra but it comes out great so although I keep saying I am going to return it I probably won’t because it’s a really good cooker for the inexpensive price.Loved everything. When leaving it on the "keep warm" setting it would collect so much condensation causing the rice to turn into mush! Rice is one of our main essentials in our household and we're more than disappointed with this product. I gave it 2 star because it was delivered very fast and packaged well.No complaints about this compact, apparently well-made rice cooker that is super easy to use and to clean up and also doesn't take up a huge amount of space when not in use.This machine doesn't actually require any measuring cup as it has grain/fluid levels built into the cooking bowl. Cooking rice is as simple as washing the machine, place rice grains into the bowl to desired grain level; rinsing the rice to clean and then adding water to the water level line; installing the cooking bowl and steaming lid; closing the cooking machine lid and pressing start.The rice comes out well-cooked; although it does take a bit of experimentation as to relative water levels in order to get the rice cooked to required tenderness/dampness. It seems as though the machine tends toward the dry side, so going a little high on the water level best suits this household's preference.The cook bowl has a non-stick surface that requires almost no clean up between cooks. The over all machine appears well-made and one hopes it will last for quite some time.The only area of concern is the 'steam top' that has to be installed into the cook lid. It creates a seal and if it gets left off the rice comes out stick hard and chewy. Remembering to always install this extra top is the easy part. The hard part is going to be replacing this part when it wears out. It remains to be seen how long it lasts.Overall, this is a recommended small rice cooker.While I have no idea what is with the brand-name, this is a decent rice-cooker for the money. Of course, if you know anything about rice cookers, you know they're not just for rice, and this one makes a very handy slow-cooker as well. You can easily cook pasta, veggies, or other items in this. It stays cool outside & has a good touch interface on the top.I know the videos the company made aren't very helpful for the product, but bear with me and I'll take you on a journey.My test run for this included a simple cup of plain white rice (rinsed before use, of course), with two cups of water to ensure tenderness, a spritz of canola oil, and a sprinkle of season salt for flavor.I read the instructions to get an idea how to use it, and it worked just fine. You press the power button & if you want to use a preset, touch that option, then select the white rice option or whichever you're doing.I think this would be great for a college student or someone living in an efficiency who needs something you can easily put away or leave out.We loved the aqua color, being just a pretty sky blue kind of shade, when so many appliances are either grey or white or black or steel.Another feature I liked was the scoop, which has a handle designed so you can stand it on end, so you don't need a spoon-rest or something.Some advice I can give you for free is that the keep warm function kicks on right after the rice is cooked, so keep an eye on when the screen changes from the cooking function. You'll notice that the timer goes from counting down to counting up when that happens. Also, when you open it to scoop out your food, hold the lid just a little bit open first, so the water on the lid will drip down into the bowl, or it will go all around the rim of the device. This isn't hard to clean, it can just get messy. And that keep warm function really keeps the food hot, so expect to get piping hot food out of this, whether you use it to make just rice or something a bit heartier.As mentioned, the attractive color, multi-purpose functions, and so on make this great for people with limited space like in college dorms or apartments, but the compact size also makes this useful for both the limited space and for people who need to change places or just don't want a lot of tedium shifting a big, single-purpose device around. This could easily make a small batch of soup just using the keep warm function, if you don't have a stove or whatnot: the device's versatility lets you play around with it.Imagine a cold, wet day, you come home to your humble abode, put on the electric kettle for some tea, warm up some soup in the rice cooker, and put together a little salad & a sandwich: you have a feast for you and even enough for a friend or partner, a three-course meal.The manufacturer shows a dish with whole prawns & some clams, but I'm not sure if they're suggesting you could cook shellfish in this. It does seem possible, but I would have to experiment to find the right setting for that.Personally, I topped my test-batch rice with a little leftover chili (warmed up in the microwave) and some shredded cheese: a hot, tasty lunch with minimal effort.You can also cook other grains like quinoa & barley, just use the mixed setting & the appropriate measure of water to ensure it cooks through.A device like this rice cooker can be very handy with a little time to try things out & the imagination to inspire all kinds of different dishes.
